I decided to become an architect as I liked all aspects of design and knew some architects who enjoyed the thrill of designing real buildings. I am one of two partners responsible for the day-to-day running of the practice, from opening the post to answering calls and paying the bills and salaries. I find new projects and take care of marketing and publicity too. My main tasks involve dealing with new clients and getting projects off the ground. I also advise clients on ideas for their site or for an existing building that they want changed to suit their current needs. A lot of time is spent drawing designs on the computer and holding meetings with the team and project architects who run the projects on a day-to-day basis.

Projects

Our projects are very varied and include historic churches, schools and housing projects for private and housing association clients. I work on feasibility studies for clients thinking of buying a site and let them know if a scheme is viable and what they can expect to build on a piece of land. I am also leading two teams working on a housing project and open air theatre.
