QUALIFICATIONS Fire safety
A strange turn of events brought me into the construction industry. My second year university project involved writing a construction report on three buildings. I had to include one that was under construction and chose the National Ice Centre in Nottingham. This was being managed by my current employer and I interviewed the project manager. I was invited back to the company for a chat and this led to the offer of a job. Now I'm a project manager, guiding clients through the construction process, making sure projects run to programme and budget and that they meet the clients' expectations.
I work with a diverse range of people, from modern apprentices through to clients with multi-million pound budgets. I attended the opening ceremony of the National Ice Centre, which was part of the Queen's Jubilee tour, and knowing how the building would be used and valued gave me a real sense of achievement.
