Converting the building involved collaboration with English Heritage as its status as a listed building meant it had to be managed sympathetically in order to retain a sense of history. Careers in the built environment also touch on so many other industries and provide a real sense of achievement as you contribute to the surrounding environment.

The variable nature of project work in this sector and the number of different people you get to meet are a real bonus. Graduates should act like a sponge! Soak up all the knowledge you can from the professionals around you; good listening skills are essential. Also, never be afraid to ask a question.
