I’m almost at the end of my traineeship, having worked in the property dispute resolution (PDR) team for a year and the retail and leisure and corporate teams before that. I’ve been involved in property leasing arrangements, the formation and sale of companies, property disputes, debt recovery work and a variety of methods of dispute resolution. Sometimes I’ve been in charge of my own cases (eg small debt recovery matters); other times I’ve assisted a partner. My responsibilities have included drafting legal documents and court actions, researching case law, attending client meetings and considering commercial implications for clients in deals or actions. I’m now also able to appear in the Sherrif Court, as well as instructing advocates to appear in the Court of Session and attending hearings with them. I’ve accepted a job here within the PDR team once I qualify.
