CURRENT SEAT Planning and environmental
UNIVERSITY Glasgow, law (2007)

I was keen to stay in Glasgow and did a vacation scheme with my current firm. My first seat as a trainee was in the employment department and I’m now with the planning and environmental team. Half the work concerns planning and environmental aspects of transactions originating in other departments, for example corporate and property; the other half comprises specific planning or environmental issues that come straight from clients. A small proportion of the work is sent up from the firm’s English offices so I’m learning about both regulatory systems. I support the team, conducting background research and drafting clauses, agreements and letters to clients.

My standard day starts at 8.30 am and finishes at 7.00 pm, sometimes later. I work at the Edinburgh office at least once a week and sometimes go to the English offices for training.
