Graduate fairs and events 2010-2011

Careers and work experience fairs are great opportunities to meet with graduate recruiters and find out more about different employers and professions. Take a look at the list of events the TARGETjobs team will be attending. Seek us out and you'll be able to pick up publications and job-hunting tips.

Get ready for the autumn season of graduate recruitment and careers fairs. Whether you are seeking career inspiration or you’re out to target specific employers, you need to prepare. With fewer graduate vacancies on offer, this year's fairs will be busier than usual and more competitive, as graduate job-hunters search out the opportunities on the market. You may have less time to spend with recruiters on stands, so be focused and ready to impress in seconds.

Quick tips for graduate fairs

Advanced preparation will help you save valuable time on the day and keep you focused.
  • Make sure you know what the fair is about, when it is (date and opening times) and how to get there.
  • Try to find out in advance which employers or course providers will be attending – this will help you focus your preparation and save you valuable time on the day.
  • Some events run advice seminars – find out the programme in advance so that you can fit these in around visiting employers’ stands.
  • If you are targeting specific employers, find out some basic information about them before you go – you’ll make a much better impression.
  • Prepare questions you want to ask and write them down – this helps if you get stage fright when talking to recruiters.
  • Not all recruiters accept CVs at fairs, but take an up-to-date copy with you just in case.
  • Visit the TARGETjobs team. We’ll be at all the events listed below.

Don't forget to visit your careers service (in person or online) to find out what other fairs, workshops and employer presentations are going on each term at your own university.
