Graduate fairs and events 2008–2009
Careers and work experience fairs are great opportunities to meet with graduate recruiters and find out more about different employers and professions. Take a look at the list of events the TARGETjobs team will be attending. Seek us out and you’ll be able to pick up publications and job-hunting tips.
Whether you are seeking career inspiration or you’re out to target specific employers, you need to prepare to get the most out of graduate recruitment fairs. Here are our top tips:
- Make sure you know what the fair is about, when it is (date and opening times) and how to get there.
- Try to find out in advance which employers or course providers will be attending – this will help you focus your preparation and save you valuable time on the day.
- Some events run advice seminars – find out the programme in advance so that you can fit these in around visiting employers’ stands.
- If you are targeting specific employers, find out some basic information about them before you go – you’ll make a much better impression.
- Prepare questions you want to ask and write them down – this helps if you get stage fright when talking to recruiters.
- Not all recruiters accept CVs at fairs, but take an up-to-date copy with you just in case.
- Visit the TARGETjobs team. We’ll be at all the events listed below.
Don't forget to visit your careers service (in person or online) to find out what other fairs, workshops and employer presentations are going on each term at your own university.
