IT doesn’t have to be about systems and processes

Could you make IT cool again? We’re looking for inspirational graduates to tackle the decline in A-level ICT and help to transform the futures of young people around the UK.

Through a unique Leadership Development Programme, Teach First will provide you with unparalleled opportunities to develop your potential through skills training, leadership development and exposure to leading organisations across the spectrum of education, business and the third sector.

ICT is one of the subject areas where we are facing the greatest challenge. The increasing use of technology in our daily lives means that over the next ten years, careers in the IT sector will outstrip the national average by 4 to 1. At the same time the number of graduates studying ICT is plummeting, with the potential for the UK to fall behind the global economy if it cannot produce the next generation of highly skilled IT professionals.

Teach First is a prestigious graduate employer, recently named 4th in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers, that places top graduates into a two year programme of teaching and leadership development. Our programme will give you the skills and strategies to impact directly on the young people you work with.

The charity is enthusiastically backed by a wide range of high-profile supporters in all sectors and by the government, for example Accenture, Civil Service Fast Stream, Goldman Sachs, PwC, P&G and Google, because they recognise the skills you develop in the classroom are directly transferable to management careers. They know that if you can engage, manage and stimulate a class of teenagers, you can handle pretty well any situation in any organisation.

“Addressing the shortage of properly equipped ICT teachers is crucial if we are to ensure that young people, whatever their background, receive the education they'll need to work in the UK’s rapidly changing industries. Google is proud to be supporting Teach First to increase the impact of computer science teachers in the classroom.”

Whatever your long term ambitions, Teach First will help you stand out from the crowd. As well as gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) you’ll have the opportunity to pursue a fully-funded Masters qualification and gain access to a network of extensive supporters. This is a full-time paid position for a minimum of two years.
