BAE Systems Detica

Graduate - Software Developer Consultant (ref 07-01573)

Role Profile

We are looking for talented consultants to join BAE Systems Detica’s SI&MS (Systems Integration and Managed Services) Service Line within the UK Business Unit. The SI&MS Service Line bring together both large programmes and smaller projects from across our different clients. We deliver world-class systems development and integration services, through support and service operation ensuring that our client’s mission critical systems and processes continue to run and perform day-in, day-out.

We are looking for self-starting, well motivated and innovative consultants with strong technology domain experience, the willingness to tackle challenging technical problems and develop new technology skills. SI&MS is a growing area of BAE Systems Detica and you will be working on exciting projects across all of Detica’s clients with the flexibility to move across a range of projects within the SI&MS Service Line. If you have a strong understanding of technology, a willingness to learn and first class communication skills there could be a role for you.

What you will be doing...

Usually working as part of a larger team you will be involved in effectively and efficiently designing, developing and supporting software applications to the high quality that is expected from all Detica projects. You may be involved in design and development (typically using Java, C, C++ and C#) of quality software to address challenging IT and security requirements or be responsible for testing solutions for our clients. You will also diagnose and resolve technical issues in a range of client critical software applications, involving bug determination, fixing and the development of application enhancements.

You will work with strong developers in a fun and exciting atmosphere within the Detica team and with our clients and delivery partners. You will share knowledge with colleagues and assist team members with their objectives, actively participate in the “go-live” of software applications to ensure effective implementation and the stand up of ongoing support services. You could also form part of our part of the 24 hour, 7 days a week call out rota with other members of the team (after qualification period) (an on-call payment will be offered for this). Whatever role you play you’ll be part of a team in a thought-leading consultancy that delivers world-class software solutions.

This will be in conjunction with building your consulting, people, presentation, and project management skills. Coupled that with exposure to a large number of projects and clients will give you a taster of many of the areas in which we operate so you can develop your career in the direction that interests you, or focus on the specialism you want to achieve.

This role could be based in Guildford or Cheltenham
