Job Description

The job is located at Whetstone near Leicester - but you can expect extended secondments to Warrington, Harwell and Bristol as part of the Graduate Programme which includes a personal development programme during the first year.

You will report to the Head of Procurement and be responsible for the execution of procurement operational activities in support of company nuclear projects and related activities and provide procurement support and expertise to the other business functions and the point of contact for all communications and dealings with external suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Close involvement with suppliers to ensure that the most cost effective and technically efficient supply solutions are delivered in respect of: cost, performance, product and/or service quality and programme.
  • Support negotiations with suppliers to ensure that the most cost effective supply solutions are obtained.
  • Ensure that Babcock’s commercial position is best protected and is properly reflected within formal subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Ensure that technical and quality requirements are fully satisfied and that all material and service requirements are supplied in accordance with project programmes
  • Upstream involvement and support in pre-contact tendering activities to ensure that candidate supply solutions are competitive and both technically and commercially compliant.
  • Subcontract management activities and providing support to supplier performance monitoring and development initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Degree

First or upper second class honours Degree in business, law, other relevant discipline or equivalent professional qualification.

Skills

  • Strong commercial and business acumen
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good relationship building, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working on own initiative to satisfy demanding deadlines
  • Word and excel literate

Security

Graduates undertaking their training with Babcock's Nuclear business will be expected to work on nuclear sites and be capable of obtaining and maintaining the required security clearance. Job offers will be subject to successful conclusion of the vetting process.

Leicester is the county town of Leicestershire. The city lies on the River Soar and at the edge of the National Forest. Leicester is located on the Midland Main Line, close to the M1 and M69 motorways and is close to East Midlands Airport. Our offices in Whetstone are located 5 miles from the city centre, which has a major shopping centre and recreational facilities. Leicester is a university town with a good supply of affordable accommodation.
