We are looking for graduate physicists to work within our Nuclear Operations based at Babcock’s radiometric instrument laboratories at Sellafield, Cumbria. The Radiometric Instrument Service provides, maintains and develops instrumentation for measuring all types of radiation at our client sites in the nuclear industry. Physicists will contribute to the provision of radiometric technical services, projects and documentation for clients both in the UK and internationally. Initially you will embark on a professional development programme which can lead to professional registration with the Institute of Physics or other suitable professional body. During the initial two-year period graduates will gain a wide range of experience in technical and commercial activities.
You will learn to work in a safe and efficient manner complying with business, customer and regulatory requirements. This will include prioritising of projects and personal time management to ensure the efficient delivery of physics service. You will contribute to the development of working methodologies and technical solutions in order to support business performance and generate business opportunities. All graduates will be expected to spend some time both at our offices and at customer sites. In addition, graduates will take part in training and development activities designed to build technical, management and interpersonal career skills.

Graduates undertaking their training with Babcock's Nuclear business will be expected to work on nuclear sites and be capable of obtaining and maintaining the required security clearance. Job offers will be subject to successful conclusion of the vetting process.
