Job Description

We are looking for Process Engineering graduates within our Nuclear Operations based at Babcock’s Nuclear offices in Manchester / Warrington to work on a wide variety of projects in the UK and internationally. Initially you will embark on a professional development programme, leading to chartered status with the IChemE. During the initial two-year period graduates will experience a wide range of engineering and commercial activities. You will learn the fundamentals of applying chemical engineering within the challenges of a nuclear environment and across the full cycle of a nuclear project (i.e. from initial project conception through to post operational decommissioning activities).

As part of your training, and to gain the experience required for obtaining chartered status, all graduates will be expected to spend some time both at our offices and at customer sites (some of which are operational sites). In addition, graduates will take part in training and development activities designed to build technical, management and interpersonal career skills.

Please note that the start date for this position will be 3rd September 2012.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • 2.1 MEng (Hons) Degree in Chemical Engineering as a minimum - Note other grades or similar degrees may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
  • As our training programme provides the initial training and experience requirements for obtaining chartered status, we prefer graduates to have degrees that are accredited by the IChemE.
  • Graduates must have good interpersonal qualities and management potential.
  • A full, and clean, driving licence is required.

Security

Graduates undertaking their training with Babcock's Nuclear business will be expected to work on nuclear sites and be capable of obtaining and maintaining the required security clearance. Job offers will be subject to successful conclusion of the vetting process.

Description of Location

Manchester is situated in the North West of England. Warrington is a town in Cheshire.
