Animal Technician
There is an exciting opportunity to be part of a successful and motivated team working within a major pharmaceutical company. We are seeking candidates for a Temporary Animal Technician position to carry out all aspects of animal husbandry, hygiene, breeding and welfare.
The vacancy is within Biological Services where you will be working with a group dedicated to the breeding and care of animals used in scientific procedures that support the discovery of new medicines. This position is a flexible deployment and the post holder will be expected to work across the site in different areas. Due to the physical nature of some of the work, good health is essential and the wearing of personal protective clothing and equipment is a requirement.
This is a temporary position for 6 months.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Candidates will be required to demonstrate they can meet the following requirements or have the potential to achieve them:
Responsibilities:
·Carry out the care, husbandry, hygiene and welfare of animals to the highest standards.
·Handle small and large animals confidently
·Work in compliance to all local safety guidelines and maintaining high levels of safety awareness.
Minimum qualifications and experience
·Able to demonstrate aptitude and ability to achieve a desirable standard of work documented in the responsibilities above.
Desirable qualifications (one or more of the following qualifications)
·BSc in a relevant science based subject.
·BTEC National/Higher Certificate or Diploma.
·Cert. IAT/MIAT
·A Levels in Science, English and Maths.
·5 GCSE’s including biology, maths and English Skills and Capabilities
·Able to work both independently and in a team.
·Possess good communication skills
·Demonstrate AstraZeneca’s values and behaviours in ways of working.
