About us

Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines is a Daimler AG company whose principal activities are the design and manufacture of Formula 1 racing engines and hybrid systems for the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS team. We are also proud to supply engines to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and Force India F1 teams.

We employ around 400 people and are based in Brixworth, Northamptonshire at the purpose built Mercedes-Benz Technology Centre. We recruit 4–8 graduates each year.

The company is built on three pillars of success; Quality, Technical Excellence and Speed & Flexibility. These traits have seen the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 engine power Lewis Hamilton (2008) and Jenson Button (2009) in the Formula 1 Drivers’ World championship and Brawn GP in the 2009 Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship.

On our two year graduate training scheme, the graduate experiences many aspects of Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines through placements within several departments, project work and competency based development.

Our graduates are supported in their development throughout their time with us, with many opportunities to learn in the competitive world of Formula 1. We also encourage and support our employees to complete professional memberships, in conjunction with institutions such as the IMechE and IOM3.

Sarah’s Story

'My graduate training at Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines was spent working within the Materials Engineering department and also on placements in other departments throughout engineering. This provided me with a great overall understanding of the company.

A large part of my work is analysing failed engine components, to identify the reason for the failure and to suggest improvements. I also have several research projects I am working on.

I really enjoy watching the F1 races, knowing that there are parts of the engine which have been affected by my work.'
