Become a journalist in just nine weeks with PMA Media Training.

PMA is the leading independent editorial and media training company in Europe. Companies from A-Z right across the world use PMA's training courses, and have been doing so for 30 years. We cover every aspect of writing skills and print, broadcast and online media, from Grazia to a daily newspaper in Pakistan, from Sky News to the Department for International Development.

Our network of journos is important. We train around 80 per cent of the UK's magazine industry, we know the editors and they know the quality of the people we train.

Our postgraduate alumni are now scattered throughout the media world: Mark Kleinman, City editor for Sky News; Matt Slater sports reporter for Radio 5-Live and BBC TV; Sara Cremer, Editorial Director of UK’s leading contract publishing house, Redwood. And scores of editors and columnists across magazines, websites and national newspapers.

If you're serious about becoming a journalist, PMA's nine-week Postgraduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism is the fastest way to gain all the skills demanded by the leading print and online publishers.

  • Accredited by the Periodicals Training Council (PTC) and approved by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ).
  • Tutored by top journalists rather than academic lecturers.
  • Designed specifically to get you a job.
  • Small group size: a maximum of just 15 trainee journalists.
  • 23 award-winning years at a central London location.

You learn: news, features, subbing, law, layout and design, video, interviewing, shorthand, social media, writing for the web and grammar. You'll produce a print and online magazine. You will leave with confidence in your journalism skills, which is vital for getting that first job. You will also have continued support and access to jobs that are never advertised.

We want people who want to work hard, with a passion for journalism.

Your degree is less important than being a good team player and having decent grammar skills (we don't have time for remedial English) – read English for Journalists by Wynford Hicks from cover to cover.

It's a fun and fast-paced course. Your social life will be on hold for nine weeks, but you'll get to know 14 other people really well!
