Mercer

Graduate employer profile

One of the world’s largest providers of consulting, outsourcing and investment services, we help our clients (all 25,000 of them) get the important things right for their people. We provide advice and guidance on everything from salaries, rewards and benefits, to pension schemes, stock market investments and risk management. Our clients trust us because we’re experts. So we take knowledge very seriously.

Our work is delivered by professionals who can draw upon a real depth of experience and expertise. It’s an approach that, time and again, has seen us help our clients motivate, retain, and improve the performance of their people.

The breadth of our services and the fact that we think that bit harder doesn’t just help us produce great results for our clients – it also makes us a fascinating and challenging place to work.

Our roles

There’s a wealth of diverse opportunities available for graduates at Mercer. Regardless of what role you choose you’ll need to possess strong communication skills, commercial awareness and a desire to think harder in your career.

Opportunities are available within the following business areas;

  • Retirement, Risk & Finance,
  • Investment Consulting,
  • Outsourcing,
  • Human Capital.

The rewards

It’s in the nature of our business to examine what motivates people. Our own workforce is no exception. That’s why we offer attractive rewards, including a company pension and a flexible benefits scheme (including the option to buy five more days' holiday on top of your standard 24 days package, retail vouchers and insurance.)

Apart from the tangible rewards expected from one of the biggest consultancies of its kind, you’ll enjoy a working culture that recognises talent and understands the importance of balancing work, life and leisure.

Training & development

Our graduate roles will see you studying toward a professional qualification – actuarial, the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or the Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision.

Whatever you choose to study, we’re here to support you. We’ll pay for your tuition fees, study materials, and give you a generous study leave package.

Our 18 month graduate development programme has been designed to identify and build on your existing strengths and includes a comprehensive induction, an exploration of the consulting business environment and a focus on equipping you with a range of skills you need to become an exceptional consultant in the future. Your development doesn’t end at 18 months though. We’ll provide ongoing technical and professional training and assign you a performance development adviser.
