GE is a major employer in the UK and invests in multiple sectors. Each of GE's five businesses (Home & Business Solutions, Energy Infrastructure, GE Capital, GE Healthcare and Transportation) has a significant presence here.

GE Healthcare has its global headquarters in Pollard's Wood, Amersham, and employs 2,600 people in the UK. Transportation supplies railway signalling systems and products to the UK rail network. GE Aviation (part of the Transportation group) has two specialist overhaul and repair facilities in Cardiff and Prestwick, and also manufactures key avionic systems in the UK. Aviation has eleven manufacturing sites in total in the UK and employs over 5,000 people, more than a quarter of GE’s total UK workforce.

Energy Infrastructure includes GE's energy, oil and gas, and water and process technologies businesses. GE Energy electrifies the world by providing reliable, efficient products and services for the energy industry. It helps businesses and authorities that generate transmit or use electricity. GE works in all areas of the energy industry including coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear energy, as well as with renewable resources such as wind and biogas. GE's Oil and Gas pipeline solutions business inspects more than 104,000 miles of pipeline worldwide each year in over 80 countries, and employs more than 2,000 people in four main locations. The VetcoGray business of GE Oil and Gas, based in Aberdeen, manufactures products and provides services for oil and gas exploration and production.

GE is also active in financial services in the UK. GE Capital employs over 3,000 people and provides a range of business finance services to UK businesses. They are involved in all segments of the money industry, from Banking to Mortgages and Real Estate and Fleet Services.

Our Graduate Programs

Our graduate leadership programs give you lots of valuable experience quickly. Your job assignments and responsibilities rotate across different aspects of GE business so you can see the bigger picture while learning useful specifics. The experience is supplemented with formal class room studies.

FMP (Financial Management Program)

FMP develops leadership and analytical skills through classroom training and key assignments. Hands-on experience may include financial planning, accounting, operations analysis, auditing, forecasting, treasury/cash management, and commercial finance. The program consists of four six-month assignments including international rotations.

EEDP (Edison Engineering Development Program)

EEDP is a two- to three-year program committed to growing GE’s entry level, high potential talent — people with a passion for technology, a drive for technical excellence, professional skills, and GE values — by accelerating their development through intense technical training and a variety of business-critical assignments. Edison graduates have the technical and business foundation to proactively and continually make innovative contributions to GE’s future.

IMLP (Information Management Leadership Program)

IMLP is a key entry point for information technology professionals in GE. This program is designed to attract high potential IT candidates and to further develop their technical skills, leadership abilities and business acumen as they transition from academia to the working world. The program consists of four six-month assignments in one of GE’s major business units.

OMLP (Operations Management Leadership Program)

OMLP accelerates development and produces leaders capable of meeting the manufacturing challenges facing Services and Global Supply Chain functions at GE. OMLP is a two-year program that allows members to build leadership and technical skills through challenging rotational assignments, projects and world-class training. Program members are involved in GE’s strategic initiatives, including GE’s drive for Lean Six Sigma. At GE you can gain hands-on experience with innovative, cutting edge products that will change the world.
