Alan Baxter & Associates was founded in 1974 as a practice of consulting engineers. Over thirty years, our scope of work has evolved into a much broader range of activities, encompassing urban design, masterplanning, conservation and civil and structural engineering. What hasn’t changed is the uniquely interactive culture of the practice.
Our work explores the full range of materials from glass and steel to tensile structures. We work as part of a close-knit team in the exploration and execution of the whole design and have a close relationship with many well-known architects. Our innovative ideas have contributed to many competition successes.
Our masterplanning and strategic urban design work is a rich variety from urban extensions and brownfield redevelopments, through to the rethinking of whole cities and their growth strategies. The ABA ethos bridges the gap between blue-sky thinking and the practical grounding of sustainable urbanism and exemplary 'place-making'.
The range of our work includes the preparation of conservation plans for historic buildings and detailed design for work on prestigious monuments such as the Palace of Westminster, St Paul’s Cathedral and Hampton Court Palace.
We have an increasing workload in projects of major importance that will help to shape the way we live. We provide a varied and challenging graduate career while supporting your professional and personal development, investing heavily in continuing education. You will also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of social activities from sporting and cultural events to lectures.
