Capgemini is the IT partner of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), delivering Aspire, one of the public sector’s most complex and high profile transformational outsourcing contracts.

Specialised Testing
The Testing Practice involves both the application of testing and quality assurance activities. You will be actively involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from Requirements to User Acceptance Testing and participate in an intensive Testing Academy Programme, learning the skills to be an effective Testing Practitioner.
You will develop core skills such as problem solving, collaborative team working and critical reasoning, and by rotating you will gain experience in different systems, technologies and test phases equipping you to understand how to apply industry best practice.
The role provides the opportunity for continual learning and development across the Software Development Lifecycle which is supported through Industry recognised certification such as ISTQB.
Knowledge Management
Working within Knowledge Management Portal Support you will be working on a range of enhancement projects and arranging training and consultation as required by the various teams within Aspire.
You will have the opportunity to get involved in some of the most interesting parts of portal support. You will be part of implementing new team sites supporting the Portals within Aspire and using your innovation to tackle customer requirements.
You will have the opportunity to learn about SharePoint SPS2003 and MOSS2007.
You will be given the appropriate training by experienced portal analysts in order to achieve your goals.
Aspire Cloud and Collaboration Service
You will be working in a new team created to generate unique and creative ways of utilising “Cloud Computing” concepts on the Aspire account. The Cloud team will be using Agile (SCRUM) development techniques and the latest Microsoft technologies to develop and host small applications.
The use of these cutting edge approaches and ideas will look to set future strategy for engagements with the Client and this will develop the area into a Cloud Technologies Centre of Excellence (CoE).
The ACCS will provide a fantastic exposure to the whole of the development lifecycle and an opportunity to work directly with the Client.
Specialised Software Engineering - Java and SAP
The Software Engineering Practice is an integral part of the Software Engineering lifecycle, providing both the Design and Development of quality applications. It is an expansive role with a wide variety of opportunities to rotate and later specialise in different technologies and development roles. Initially, exposure will be within one of 2 key technology areas; SAP and Java/Aqualogic, with opportunities to learn about business processes as well as technical skills.
Essentially by joining the Software Engineering Practitioner Stream you will develop and apply core skills such as problem solving, collaborative team working and critical reasoning as well as having an opportunity to gain industry recognised technical accreditations. This area includes active involvement in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from requirements to the implementation of a Live Solution.
Application Management (within Live Services)
Aspire Live Services (LS) is the area responsible for the support of HMRC’s IT systems. A role in LS will give you exposure to a wide range of technologies across some of the most complex, interesting, and high profile IT Systems in Europe. You will also be given the opportunity to rotate onto these different systems, different technologies and different stages in the technical lifecycle.
Applications Management is focussed on the Live support of HMRC’s business applications. A role in Applications Management entails planning, coding, testing and monitoring of IT systems within an industry standard, ITIL-based framework. You will gain experience of the various components of Application Delivery across different systems and technologies, including web based systems and mobile technologies. You will gain an understanding of how the HMRC business operates as well as having regular interaction with our HMRC client. For anyone interested in developing a technical career, Applications Management offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to multiple technologies. Management Information Services
The Management Information Services (MIS) area is one of the internal hub areas of Aspire, providing tools and infrastructure to the account and measuring the effectiveness of them. It is involved in setting strategy and direction for the future and ensuring that we are equipped to delivery quality systems to our Client.
This role will offer an opportunity to understand much more about the support mechanisms required by such a large account. It will offer an opportunity to develop some key IT skills and capabilities and will develop your understanding of strategy, technical architecture, technical delivery teams, project management and customer management.
For technical roles within the Aspire programme, you will need CCC at A level or equivalent (excluding General Studies) and a 2:1 degree in Computer Science/IT or an Engineering discipline with high IT content. A 2:2 degree may be considered if a subsequent Masters has been achieved in Computer Science/IT or an Engineering discipline with high IT content.
