There’s never been a better time to train as a Chartered Accountant (CA). The services of a CA are always in demand and you can look forward to an interesting and varied career with great job prospects. What’s more, you don’t need to have studied a degree in accountancy. What is important is that you’re a good communicator, ambitious and ready to enjoy the opportunities and financial rewards that come with having the prestigious CA qualification.
ICAS is the world’s first professional accountancy body and the first to adopt the designation ‘Chartered Accountant’. The letters ‘CA’ can still only be used in the UK by members of ICAS.
As an ICAS-trained Chartered Accountant you’ll have a lot to offer potential employers. You’ll benefit from a stable and defined career path, as well as opportunities for international travel. You can choose to train throughout the UK and the Channel Islands in a public practice accountancy firm. And through the Training Outside Public Practice scheme (TOPPS) there’s a wide range of other employers to train with, including Aggreko, RBS, Aviva and Standard Life.
You don’t just need a head for figures. What’s more important are strong business, communication and leadership skills, because you won’t be spending all day sifting through spreadsheets.
ICAS is the only UK body to both train and examine all of its students and our lecturers are all qualified accountants. What does this mean for you? That employers all over the world recognise that the CA qualification stands for consistency and high standards. In fact, it’s understood that being ICAS trained means having the all-round business acumen that’s needed in today’s global business environment.
To become a CA, you need to apply for a three-year training contract with an organisation that’s authorised to train CA students. You can apply online by clicking the 'visit our careers site' button, and use this site to search through over a thousand training vacancies with ICAS authorised employers who are recruiting now for their 2012 intake.
