Field Seymour Parkes is a full service legal practice, offering a comprehensive range of expert commercial and private legal services to organisations and individuals alike throughout the UK.
We have one office in the centre of Reading with over 90 staff of whom 58 are lawyers. We have a longstanding reputation for providing a professional service of the highest calibre, combining technical excellence with commercial awareness and a practical, constructive approach to legal issues.
The practice offers an extremely broad range of legal services which includes the mainstream areas of corporate law, property law and the full range of private client services as well as more specialised fields including sports law, education, social housing, farming, personal insolvency and leasehold enfranchisement.
The provision of high-quality legal services at the firm is underpinned by a very strong professional support team offering know how services to all solicitors working for the practice. This involves regular training sessions ensuring that solicitors in all practice areas in the firm are always sharp and right up to date with the law. Our commitment to staff training and welfare is demonstrated by the fact that we are accredited by the Investors In People Scheme.
We normally offer four training contracts each year and our trainees gain experience in three or four out of our seven main areas of work (commercial property; corporate and commercial; employment and tax; dispute resolution; family; wills, trusts and estates and residential property), covering both the commercial and private client teams.
Our trainees are given the opportunity to learn and develop the professional skills required to be a solicitor. Whilst taking on responsibility and client contact is encouraged, trainees work under the direct supervision of a Partner or solicitor in their team and meet the Training Partner at regular intervals to discuss their progress. FSP has a high rate of retention of its trainees and many Partners in the firm started out as trainees.
We will be accepting applications for training contracts for September 2014 between 1 January and 30 June 2012. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high level of academic achievement. Offers will be conditional on applicants passing both the LPC and, if appropriate, GDL at the first attempt.
If you are thinking of applying to Field Seymour Parkes for a training contract, we would strongly encourage you to apply for work experience here. Not only does it allow us to get to know you better but it provides you with an invaluable insight into how the firm operates.
