Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP is a leading London based practice with over 250 lawyers.
Based in the City, we work in an open, collaborative environment designed to bring out the best in our people and to ensure that the service we offer our clients is second-to-none. The firm is particularly well known as one of the top insurance and litigation firms in the country, with renowned medical malpractice and professional indemnity practice areas. We have a highly rated commercial division which handles the full spectrum of corporate and commercial work for national and multinational companies across several industries.
We also have a substantial dispute resolution group, with significant practices in IT, IP, media, employment and insolvency. Our construction group deals with building disputes and environmental claims, along with building and engineering, major projects and PFI work. The real estate group handles all aspects of commercial real estate work.
As a trainee you will receive first rate graduate training in a supportive working environment. You will work closely with a partner and will be given real responsibility as soon as you are ready to handle it. At least six months will be spent in four areas of our practice and we encourage our trainees to express preferences for the areas in which they would like to train. In addition to the Professional Skills Course we provide a complementary graduate programme of in-house training. When you qualify we hope you will stay with us and we endeavour to place you in the area of law that suits you best.
We appoint fifteen trainees each year from a law or non-law background. Although proven academic ability is important (we require a 2.1 degree or above) we also value energy, enthusiasm, business sense, commitment and the ability to communicate and relate well to others. Graduate recruitment usually takes place in the September, two years before commencement of the graduate training contract. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to our assessment day during which they will have the opportunity to meet our existing trainees and partners.
Bursaries are available for the GDL, if applicable, and the LPC. Bursaries comprise course and examination fees and a maintenance grant of up to £6,500. We request that all our trainees complete their LPC at BPP law school.
We also run summer vacation schemes each year to enable prospective trainees to spend time with us, getting a feel for the firm’s work and atmosphere. Twelve students at a time spend two weeks with us and are integrated as closely as possible with the real working life of the firm. You should get a good idea of whether a career at RPC is right for you.
