White & Case LLP is a global law firm employing more than 2,200 lawyers across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Our network of 36 offices provides the full range of legal services of the highest quality in virtually every major commercial centre and emerging market. Our clients are predominantly multinational and include companies and financial institutions; additionally we also act for governments and state-owned entities. Our London office was established in 1971 and now employs over 300 legal staff who work on a variety of sophisticated, high-value transactions. Many of the legal matters we handle feature in the legal press worldwide as our clients achieve firsts in privatisation, cross-border business deals, or major development projects.

Our training programme

The training contract consists of four six-month seats. We guarantee that one of the four seats can be spent in America, Africa, Asia or Europe. Importantly, personal preferences will be considered when agreeing which seats the trainees will undertake.

Practice areas where trainees can spend a seat include: Banking and Capital Markets; Construction and Engineering; Corporate (including M&A and private equity); Dispute Resolution (including litigation, arbitration and mediation); Employment and Benefits; Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance; Intellectual Property and Real Estate.

Regardless of where they work, trainees get involved from day one and will receive high quality, stimulating and rewarding work. With each seat, trainees will share an office with the partner or senior associate who has been assigned to supervise their training and who has been trained to accept the responsibility of such a role. We encourage trainees to take early responsibility and place a strong emphasis on practical hands-on training, together with plenty of support and feedback.

Who should apply?

We are looking to recruit ambitious trainees who have an interest in working on bigticket, cross-border work; trainees who are enthusiastic and can work well in teams; trainees who are commercially aware, can accept early responsibility and demonstrate their confidence in a client focused environment. All of these qualities are important, however trainees will be welcomed for their individuality and their ability to contribute to the cutting-edge work we do.
