The Cabinet Office is now recruiting for the 2010 Summer Diversity Internships, a 6 to 9 week paid work placement that runs across June and August 2010. The Civil Service Fast Stream offers internships in a number of government departments across the UK including Wales and Scotland.
It is open to undergraduates and graduates who are disabled, in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA)
By the end of the placements, trainees will have discovered a great deal about the role of the Civil Service, and about the relationships between Parliament and Civil Service departments. With a real understanding of Civil Service work and training behind them, the intention is that trainees are equipped with the knowledge of what the Civil Service is about and an understanding of the role of Fast Streamers to encourage them to apply to the Fast Stream programme in subsequent years.
Interns receive a competitive weekly training allowance and if required, reasonable adjustment support throughout the life of the scheme.
Applicants must have a minimum of an expected (or awarded) 2:2 degree in any discipline. Some of our placements look for people who have an economics degree or are currently studying economics (or a joint degree where 50% of their course modules are in economics) or their degree contains some statistical content. The Scheme is currently open and closes on 4 January 2010.
