CIPFA professional qualification
On average, the course takes three years to complete and will most commonly be completed while working for a public sector organisation or an organisation working with the public sector.
The course is broken into three stages; Certificate, Diploma and the Final Test of Professional Competence, with each stage awarding a recognised qualification. The course covers the full breadth of professional skills required by organisations to enable you to operate effectively and successfully in today’s demanding world.
The skills gained while studying CIPFA are fully transferable to finance roles in both the public and private sectors.

Trainee vacancies
There are many employers currently looking to recruit graduates to study for the CIPFA professional qualification from central and local government and from within the private sector such as KPMG, PKF and Grant Thornton, amongst others.

Career prospects
Many CIPFA students find that their careers progress extremely quickly. Typically, a CIPFA student can earn over £25,000 as a Trainee Accountant. As a Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA), members can expect to earn £40,000 or more as a Senior Auditor, and well in excess of £100,000 at Director or Chief Executive level.
