NDS may not be a name you're very familiar with, but you've almost certainly used our products at some point. We create the products that allow the pay-TV industry to operate, whether it's smart cards, personal video recorders or electronic programme guides. We supply these products to more than 90 of the world's leading pay-TV platforms including BSkyB, DIRECTV, Sky Italia and Premiere; our software is deployed into more than 161 million active devices worldwide.
If you've ever watched Sky then you've used our software; from Sky+ and interactive TV through to the server side components which ensure that the TV guide shows the correct programme information. We also make the next generation of TV software; we've deployed IPTV, we're working on targeted advertising and if you want to control your TV from your smartphone, we've got software to help you do that too.
NDS' headquarters are in the UK, but we have over 5000 employees in offices all around the world with major development centres in Israel, India, France, Korea, China, and the US as well as the UK. Above all, we are a research and development-led company with over 75% of our employees working in that area.
Finally, we're a great company to work for; the work we do is interesting, our employees are friendly and knowledgeable and there's a relaxed working environment. We’ve also implemented a number of initiatives aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and helping digital TV subscribers reduce energy consumption. If more proof were needed of the appeal of NDS, we are listed in the Sunday Times top 100 companies to work for in the UK (2011).
We are looking for exceptional people – graduates should have a good degree in a numerate subject, and be able to demonstrate an excellent technical aptitude. Successful applicants will have experience of working successfully in teams, possess strong communication skills and demonstrate plenty of initiative. Ideally, we would like to hear from candidates who have some industrial experience.
The graduate development programme lasts for two years. It allows you to experience real work in real terms, with support and training to enable you to take on a role in either our R&D or customer operations and delivery divisions. Positions are available in a variety of teams, from working on the embedded software within the STB to installing and supporting the latest generation system for a broadcaster on the other side of the globe. Our projects involve cutting-edge technology, providing innovative solutions for our customers worldwide.
Our training scheme comprises in-house industry-specific courses, appropriate external courses and on-the-job experience. Support will be provided by your team, specifically your allocated mentor and the graduate co-ordinator.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package including subsidised Sky Digital.
We aim to group new graduate starters together and start dates are likely to be in the late summer through early autumn of a given year. We have no set closing date although we advise applicants to apply as soon as possible to give you the best chance of being considered.
