I was offered a position at Watson Wyatt after completing a summer intership wih them. I wanted to work for an actuarial consultant because I wanted a job that used maths as well as dealing with people outside the office. I chose more specifically to apply to the non life insurance team as this field was more mathematical than others as well as providing me with more travel than other departments.

I was looking for a career as an actuary and had heard that Watson Wyatt had a great reputation in the industry and was a leader in the field. I thought that working for Watson Wyatt would be the best way to begin my career and develop as a professional, and therefore applied for a position within the company.

I wanted to work for a well established company that was firmly committed towards the personal development of its staff. Zurich are sufficiently large enough to allow a wide range of future career options and provide extensive support in terms of professional development for people with the right level of motivation and commitment.

I was attracted to working for Watson Wyatt as they're a market leader in pensions consulting, and I wanted to work for a major firm. There is a huge amount of career development support, from paying for study materials and entry fees for actuarial exams to an extensive internal training programme for new graduates.

I wanted to work in investment but not for a bank. Watson Wyatt seemed like it would provide the kind of work/life balance I was interested in.

I heard about Towers Perrin via my careers service at university - a job was advertised late in the recruitment cycle which was when I finished my PhD and started applying. The job looked interesting and the firm had a good careers section on its website. I didn't know much about being an actuary until this but it fitted the kind of work I wanted to do very closely.

I am currently working in the investment consulting practice at Watson Wyatt. Prior to this I was working for a large IT consulting firm. This experience gave me an insight into consulting which I really enjoyed. However, I found that I wasn't very interested in IT. I was very much interested in Finance and in particular an actuarial career. One of my friends working in the investment practice told me about the type of work he does and current opportunities in this area. I researched this further, found the job specification to be really interesting and it appeared I would enjoy it, so decided to apply.

I knew some people who already worked in Watson Wyatt, and they were very happy there. Watson Wyatt did a presentation for my class at university, and after that I decided to apply.
