Cardiff is jam packed. For a start it’s home to the Welsh National Assembly, a major employer as well as the devolved government for Wales. The city is also well known for its cultural, historical and sporting venues – and the resulting high quality of life in the city has encouraged major businesses, such as Endsleigh Insurance Services and British Gas, to locate here.
Redevelopment of the old docks in the Cardiff Bay area has led to further investment in the city, particularly in the busy leisure and tourism sectors. For media types, BBC and ITV Wales both have a strong presence in Cardiff.
There’s plenty going on in Cardiff for postgrads as well. Cardiff University is well known for its research in a number of areas, including engineering, town planning and management, while the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) is best known for its work in sport and design-related fields. Unsurprisingly, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) specialises in music and drama but also offers courses in arts management and a variety of practical subjects.
