LeedsLeeds, once a renowned centre of wool production, continues to establish its reputation as one of the UK’s principle professional cities. It is also considered to be the most important financial centre outside of London. Companies such as the BBC, Ernst & Young and Kroll have offices here.

Its universities are among the most popular in the country, receiving the most applications year on year, and Leeds’ student-driven nightlife will provide many affordable options for the recently graduated. There is also a great emphasis placed on festivals and parades: Big City Jazz, Leeds Pride and the Leeds West Indian Carnival are just three notable examples.
