Joint venture to create 6,000 science and technology jobs

The government has announced a public-private joint venture at Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus in the north west that should bring over 6,000 science and technology sector jobs to the area over its 20-year lifetime.

The partnership is between the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), Halton Borough Council, the North West Development Agency and private sector development company Langtree, which will develop one million square feet of science and technology facilities.

The Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus already hosts the STFC’s Daresbury Laboratory and over 100 high-tech companies, largely small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) focusing on areas such as energy, healthcare, security and the environment.
