Roland Berger Strategy Consultants pulls on the gardening gloves

On a pro bono basis, top consulting graduate employer Roland Berger Strategy Consultants has developed a financing plan for an ambitious project: a six-lane road that runs through the centre of Munich’s famous English Garden park, the largest city park in Europe, is to be re-routed through a tunnel at a cost of EUR 70 million.

The plan involves approaching companies, individuals, and local and regional government, asking them to choose one of six sponsorship packages to support the venture, which would result in less congestion in the city and an improved green space for all.

Consulting projects with benefits

This is a great example of the kind of work you could find yourself doing as a graduate consultant – with tangible results that are clearly beneficial to a huge number of people. Ralf Kalmbach, partner and member of the executive committee of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, commented, ‘This project is a unique example of a successful public-private partnership. By providing financial aid, politicians, local citizens and companies can show their support for Munich as a place to do business and help improve the quality of life in the city even more.’
