If you’re a young woman working in engineering and you’ve established yourself as an energetic and technically excellent professional, now’s your chance to enter this year’s Young Woman Engineer Awards, which highlight the achievements of the best female engineers under the age of 30 working in the UK.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Young Woman Engineer of the Year 2010 competition is open for entries until 30 July. The judges are looking for a dynamic young woman who is a high achiever, a problem solver and a team player, with the charisma and personality to inspire others to follow in her footsteps.
The winner will act as an ambassador and role model, representing women in engineering and attending high profile events where there will be opportunities to network with influential industry figures. She will be presented with a trophy and a cheque for £1,000 at a ceremony in London in December 2010.
Two runners-up, one who has followed an apprentice route and another who has followed a graduate route, will be awarded the Mary George and Women’s Engineering Society Prizes respectively.
You can apply yourself or nominate someone else for the award. Application forms can be downloaded from the IET website.
