Travel programmes pay comparatively well against graduate roles in other employment sectors.

Relatively few travel industry employers run graduate schemes, but the schemes that are available tend to offer salaries that are comparable to graduate pay in other sectors. Also, you can enter the industry from any degree background and there is a wide variety of roles available.

  • Flight Centre: travel consultants start on £18,000 to £20,000, depending on location, with commission on top. Earnings can rise to £30,000 if you are appointed to a team leader position.
  • TUI Travel: has an international graduate leadership programme with a yearly salary of around £26,000 plus expenses for living abroad.
  • British Airways: salaries vary between £26,000 and £30,000, depending on the graduate programme you apply for.
  • Manchester Airports Group: previous graduate schemes advertised a wage of £25,000.
