Advances in this area need a constant flow of graduate scientists. It is also one of the areas which does have graduate schemes available to top candidates.

Scientists are needed to help in the design and manufacture of the latest range of technological advances. The UK has the world’s second largest aerospace and defence industry, and it constantly needs graduates bringing in new ideas and techniques.

There are many positions available in:

  • research and development
  • air transport
  • aerospace defence
  • space development.

Qualifications required

Organisations working in these sectors may have graduate vacancies for physics and materials science graduates. Postgraduate schemes may help, although some larger organisations may have in-house graduate schemes which incorporate postgraduate training.
