Environmental Scientist Graduate Consultant

At the core of our Resources & Industry business, the Environment business line's 4,400 talented environmental professionals provide environmental solutions for private and public clients around the world. We offer environmental management services that meet client needs for feasibility, impact analysis, and operational compliance as well as remediation, restoration and reuse of impacted property.

The candidate will join a Transactions and Compliance (T&C) team currently comprising 6 professional environmental (5 No.) and Health and Safety (1 No.) consultants based in the Dublin and Cork Offices, Ireland. The T&C team is part of a larger environmental team comprising 28 environmental specialists (which in addition to T&C personnel includes EIA, noise, contaminated land, waste and hydrogeological consultants) based in Dublin and Cork.

The core T&C team business is compliance related work related to Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) and Industrial Emissions (IE) License, enforcement support work for the Environmental Protection Agency, environmental compliance auditing and environmental due diligence assessments. While primarily working within the T&C team, the successful candidate will also be involved within specific projects across the wider environmental team.

The preferred candidate will be based in the Cork Office and should be amenable to undertaking work involving secondments to client’s offices. In this instance this would only apply to clients based in County Cork.

Job Responsibilities

When a graduate starts with us we pair them with an experienced member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects. Their initial role will support and assist with the completion of design tasks.

The candidate will undertake specific tasks under Project Manager direction in a wide range of projects within the areas described above. Tasks will be both desktop and field based. Training where required will be provided, mainly project specific training and mentoring (e.g., via accompanying senior staff on site visits). 2 The candidate will contribute to the Transactions and Compliance team overall targets and objectives and will ensure that health and safety is paramount to all activities. Requirements

  • BSc or MSc level in a relevant environmental discipline; Environment Impact Assessments/ Sciences/Studies/Management/Sustainable Development/ Policy, Geography (includes physical)
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to learn, understand or have knowledge of environmental regulations
  • Enthusiastic with excellent research skills
  • Sound report writing skills
