Engineering Internship - Metal Technology Materials & Processes

Duration: 12 Months
The role is based in the Metallics Technology team in Filton, Bristol and has two principle engineering responsibilities.
This Internship provides a superb environment for you to develop as a professional engineer; giving you exposure to real-world projects early in your career whilst being nurtured by a vibrant and supportive team around you.
Reactive problem solving: The Metallics Technology team are often required to provide materials expertise to solve problems that occur either during the design, production or use of aircraft wing components. Here, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge you have gained during your degree to provide solutions to demanding and exciting industrial problems. With the potential to play a key role in large projects you will need excellent project management and organisational skills to match your technical ability.
Proactive work: All the materials and processes used to produce metallic parts in aircraft production need to be proved to be robust, safe and capable of performing as designed. This is done through a process known as qualification. Working with suppliers worldwide you will be responsible for running qualification projects, determining the testing required and running analysis of the results to ensure that suppliers are providing a capable product. In a transnational workplace you will be working with colleagues in France, Germany and Spain.
You must be an undergraduate for the whole duration of your placement, studying towards one of the following degrees:
- Material Science (Preferred)
- Aerospace Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Automotive Engineering
In addition, the following sills are required:
- Understanding of Metallic materials is advantageous
- Proactive approach
- Good communication skills
