Akin Gump’s London office is the main hub for the firm’s international offices. The firm’s strategy in London is to grow practices that complement core strengths of the firm. It is an integrated office practising at the top of its markets. We have 20 offices worldwide and our clients range from corporations and financial institutions to foreign governments and individuals. We offer an established trainee solicitor programme supported by smart, diverse lawyers, and our market-leading practices provide a broad range of legal services to clients. Our practices and people are highly recommended by leading industry publications and are at the forefront of their markets, cementing our reputation as leadingedge counsel across the global marketplace.

The London office is an exciting and inspiring environment to train as a lawyer, offering up to four trainee places per year. By focusing on a smaller intake we maintain flexibility and seek to grow through our junior lawyer retention. Trainees will have the choice of sitting within the financial restructuring, corporate/M&A, energy, finance, financial regulatory, funds/investment management, litigation/arbitration, international trade/competition or tax practice areas. Seats can be tailored to three or six-month durations across the two-year training programme to provide a wide breadth of experience.

Trainees are also heavily involved in the firm's many pro bono initiatives. Recent examples include working with 'Lawyers Without Borders' on establishing child labour laws in developing countries and with 'Reprieve', an organisation providing legal support worldwide for vulnerable people.

There is a high level of partner involvement in the programme. Trainees learn through firsthand experience, working side by side on commercial transactions with experienced and highly regarded practitioners to develop a keen commercial awareness. Akin Gump trainees become an integral part of the legal teams, with on-the-job learning allowing them to take on early responsibility. They receive dedicated supervision and valuable, on-going feedback to support their development.
