I applied to Akin Gump because of the firm’s market-leading finance related practices. I believed that my background knowledge and experience would be a good fit with the corporate and financial legal matters that the lawyers at Akin deal with. I was also attracted by the scope of work on offer; the lawyers often work on high-profile cases and deals, which almost always involve multi-jurisdictional elements.

I am currently in my second seat sitting in Investment Funds having spent my first six months in the Cross-Border Transactions corporate department. I have had the opportunity to work with different teams on a variety of projects - some of which I have been able to see through from the start to completion. Such work has allowed me to appreciate, and gain a real understanding of, the legal aspects of the business and commercial issues experienced by clients.

Trainees are given the opportunity to work closely with teams of associates and partners on a range of transactions, and are also given the chance to manage smaller matters independently. The firm has an open support network who are always available to help with our training and advise on our development as legal professionals.
