I applied to Amazon in my final year at Warwick, after coming back from my year abroad at UBC in Vancouver. I knew I wanted to work for a multinational that made a significant impact in the world and that had international opportunities, which is exactly what Amazon offers.
I joined in the graduate class of 2016, on the Marketplace team, helping independent businesses with their European expansion. But just when I thought I knew everything about my role, a new challenge came up, and I would have to find a solution to a new problem or improve an existing process. Sometimes I was assigned these tasks, but many times I was able to recognise an issue and drive a solution by myself. This is one of my favourite things about working at Amazon, since you are always encouraged to demonstrate Bias for Action and Deliver Results in topics that you are passionate about, sometimes regardless of whether it is related to your core role or not.
Working at Amazon has offered me learning opportunities and personal development that I could not have gained anywhere else. I do not know exactly want my next move will be, but I am certain that it will be within Amazon. I love going into work every day because I get to be challenged and motivated by great colleagues and leaders. We regularly have socials that bring us together and motivate us to be creative and deliver results as a team; this is something that I valued highly when I was looking for my first job.
