American Express

Interview: Tips & Advice

2017

"There were online tests, a CV review, a video interview and an assessment centre. The best way to prepare would be to learn about the company, what it does and how it provides value to customers."

"Stay calm in the interview and read up on the industry beforehand."

"It's the standard process of an online application and, if successful, an assessment centre. The assessment centre consists of a case study, a group exercise and two interviews. The best preparation I could suggest would be to read about the American Express business model (particularly its unique 'closed loop model') to understand how the company makes money and what its biggest challenges are. This will help you to answer questions in the interview and show that you've done some research as well as having a genuine interest in working here. Also, prepare some answers for standard competency questions using the SMART technique."
Graduate, London
"Research the company beforehand. Know what you're passionate about and demonstrate your ability and willingness to learn and grow."
Graduate, Burgess Hill
"It was quite relaxed. There were a few different tasks to evaluate you as a person, including your skills, and how much of a team player you are. Let your personality show."
