Graduate Bridge Engineer - Croydon

Our Bridges and Highway Structures team is involved in some of the UK’s most high profile, complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UK’s and indeed the world’s most prestigious and challenging projects. Our current client portfolio includes the Department of Transport, Transport for Scotland, Highways England, Transport for London, Borough Councils, Canal & River Trust, Civil Engineering Contractors and International Governments, for whom we undertake the planning, design and supervision of bridge and structures projects with a view to exceeding our client’s expectations.

Recent and current projects the teams have worked on include: Lower Thames Crossing, Doha Expressway, Chelsea Bridge Assessment, Hammersmith Bridge Assessment, M4 Smart Motorways project, Anderton Boat Lift, Auckland Harbour Bridge, Trans-Pennine Tunnel as well as supporting other sectors on Projects such as Crossrail, Jeddah Metro and Thames Tideway Tunnel.

Graduate Development Programme

We have a two year development programme for our Graduates, during which time you will be fully supported inworking towards various accreditation routes. Our Graduate programmes have helped over 300 people through their accreditation exams since 2011.

Role Requirements:

  • Assisting with inspections of bridges and civil structures
  • Undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed design of bridges and other structures in concrete, steel and other materials
  • Developing analysis skills using state of the art software
  • Undertaking feasibility and options studies and writing reports to conclude your findings to the client
  • You will be put on a training agreement and assigned a mentor to assist with progress towards becoming a Chartered Engineer
  • You will have opportunities to work on a range of projects in various locations in the UK and Globally
  • Preparing drawings, specifications, reports and other project documentation as required in line with company and client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice
  • Participating in the resolution of technical issues
  • Gaining experience and proficiency in Arcadis systems and procedures
  • Becoming familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Arcadis

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering Degree with 2:1 or above
