"It's a very diverse office and we have many women higher up (our practice manager is a woman). Maternity leave also appears to be flexible and inclusive. There have been several pieces highlighting the work of LGBT inclusion within the office."
Graduate, Epsom
"The maternity leave is generous and there is assistance to allow mothers to ease back into work after having been off on maternity leave."
Entry level, Glasgow
"I have colleagues from every corner of the world and it's great to work with people from different backgrounds. The company supports gender equality and celebrates a 'women in engineering day'. There is only a small LGBT community but it is growing."
Graduate, London
"Compared with other engineering offices I've worked in, this one appears to be more diverse. The company is very active in STEM activities to encourage children to consider engineering careers. The flexible working hours and ability to work part-time gives women the option to continue their careers in a manageable way after returning from maternity leave. There has been a recent push to promote mental health awareness and well-being. I have seen no examples of discrimination due to gender, race, disability or sexual orientation. If this were ever the case it is clear from company policy that it would be treated very seriously."
Graduate, Bristol
"There are lots of opportunities for women, both of my line managers have been women. Maternity and paternity leave is good and childcare vouchers are available."
Graduate, Belfast
"There are awareness groups for women in engineering, LGBT and mental health. I don't think gender, race or sexuality have any impact on those who are recruited or promoted. Atkins is very flexible with leave for parents. There is a two-week paternity leave and one year of parental leave (shared between both parents) available."
Entry level, Bristol
"Atkins allows flexible working arrangements from three-day working weeks to full-time term-time only working. There are also people working their full-time hours in four days rather than five. I've seen a number of people change from one business within Atkins to another and move offices as well to accommodate their personal circumstances. I've found the attitudes towards our business being inclusive to be very healthy and I know that they take their social responsibility seriously in encouraging the younger generation to consider all of the career options that Atkins has to offer."
Graduate, Birmingham
"There's a women in engineering day and numerous forums to promote diversity."
Graduate, Derby
"The company actively promotes women in engineering and visibly supports the LGBT community during Pride. Employees are generally very diverse and come from a range of countries, cultures and religions."
Graduate, Birmingham
"There's a lot of focus on LGBT at the moment. My team is female dominated, which I believe to be rare for an engineering team."
Mid level, Epsom

"Atkins is a very diverse company, with employees from across the globe working in both my team and the office."
Graduate Civil Engineer, Epsom
"There is a clear policy of giving equal opportunities to women, especially in senior roles."

Graduate Environmental Scientist, Epsom
"Excellent support is provided for those with additional requirements such as maternity leave etc. There is a current focus on further improvements in recruiting from a more diverse group."
Graduate Mechanical Engineer, Rotherham
"The company has good standards in this respect. It actively promotes engineering at schools and has a number of events focused on women in engineering."
Graduate Engineer, Bristol
"The company is highly commitment to diversity. At present, they are backing an industry-wide initiative for woman in engineering. From experience within my office, there are employees from many different countries and cultures."
Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, Glasgow
"It is a very diverse office with a mix of ethnicities and cultures. There is a good balance between men and women as well, which provides a more balanced working environment."
Process Engineer, Aberdeen

"At my level the gender balance is pretty good (considering I work for a firm that's primarily concerned with engineering) with nine men and seven women in my cohort. Working hours are flexible, and diversity plans are in place and communicated regularly."
Graduate, London
"This is a very topical subject, but Atkins do a lot in the way of diversity, and encouraging people from all backgrounds into the company."
Graduate, Bristol
"My company is very committed to diversity. The company is international and as such, operates from a wide variety of cultures and ethnicities, all of which engage with each other in the delivery of work. The company drives to retain its best staff and recruit the best staff to assist with expansion."
Graduate, Birmingham
"Atkins puts a great emphasis on the women's network and our senior men are very supportive of this."
Graduate, London
"Recruitment and retention are driven primarily by ability of the candidate. There are no obvious restraints to women or people of different ethnicities or sexual orientations, and the company has a very comprehensive diversity policy to help ensure that this continues to not be a problem."
Graduate, Stockton
"The company has a good policy on this and its flexible working strategy encourages women to stay in work."
Graduate, Bristol
"I attend the Women's Professional Networking Forum, which holds a meeting every few months and also a training course. There are good policies and culture on childcare and maternity leave."
