"While the partnership is not diverse with respect to gender and ethnic diversity at the moment, there has been a real push for diversity over the past decade. A lot of effort has been made to overcome unconscious bias to recruit, retain and promote employees from diverse backgrounds. Maternity leave is generous and flexible work arrangements are getting more common."

"The current situation in terms of the numbers (eg low numbers of female partners and women in leadership positions generally) is not great but I like to believe that there are efforts to improve. There are certainly conversations happening around diversity."
Entry level, Edinburgh
"There's not a lot of senior diversity. I think progress in addressing this is a little slower than it should be."

"I think there's a long way to go in terms of seeing a visible improvement in levels of diversity at Baillie Gifford as the statistics aren't great. However, diversity and inclusion has been a big focus in the last couple of years and will continue to be so. I think efforts made in this field come down to a genuine belief that diversity matters and is not simply lip service. I think new employee initiatives such as the LGBT Network and the Mental Health Group will go a long way to bringing meaningful change to the company."
