Balfour Beatty Homes is an exciting new opportunity for Balfour Beatty Investments, delivering high quality new build residential homes through three regional offices across the UK. Building on the recent successes of the Balfour Beatty Group our aim is to achieve sustained growth, whilst offering our customers creatively designed and aspirational homes. Underpinned by the massive demand for new houses, Balfour Beatty Homes has set out a five year growth plan in which it needs a bright and talented graduate to join its Commercial team to assist in operations affecting all parts of the business.

About the programme

The role will be based in either the Derby or Kettering regional offices, although travel will be required between all UK regions and their development sites.

As a Balfour Beatty Homes graduate, you will embark on a two year programme, in which time you will be expected to be an integral part of the team exposed to all levels of the business and able to help shape our future growth. You will be working with a range of experienced individuals from multiple disciplines, including Land, Technical, Commercial, Finance and Sales. Your successful collaboration with this team will help us to deliver the housing society needs.

The Commercial team is responsible for the monitoring, controlling and reporting of all costs across all outlets of the business along with accurately forecasting cost information to assist with the purchase of new sites.

The Balfour Beatty Graduate scheme lasts for two years, you will follow a development programme that will equip you with the skills needed to become a business leader of the future. Throughout the two years, you'll be supported by your line manager and mentor and have the opportunity to attend graduate-based events, where you will network with your peers, develop interpersonal skills and share best practice. You will join a graduate cohort and be assigned Business Improvement and Corporate Social Responsibility Projects that can affect the way we work as a business.

What you’ll need

To be considered for our graduate scheme, you’ll have:

  • Drive and energy with a self-motivated attitude to your development
  • A keen eye for detail and an aptitude for using numbers
  • At least a 2:1 in your degree in Quantity Surveying (or similar)
  • Strong interest in being involved in house building
  • Willing to travel within the UK.
  • A team-focus with the ability to interact with a wide variety of people at all levels
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
