"I don't think there's enough time to pick up many skills. The new perspective on real estate and the strategic process was helpful for the future and very interesting."
Intern, London
"I received training on my first day, which consisted of who to locate and the files that I would need while working for the department. I also learned how to navigate the spreadsheets the company uses for data and also how to navigate the property data websites it uses."
Research, Intern, London
"I learned how to carry out a development appraisal through sitting with colleagues and being talked through it."
Intern, London
"I have hugely developed my understanding of how big property consultancies work. The only slight downside, as with all big firms, is that the amount of exposure you receive as an intern is limited."
Intern, London
"The training I did receive throughout the internship was largely informal and mostly related to specific jobs on which I was helping. I found that some of the best training I received was while travelling to and from site visits with another team member and discussing the project involved. I was also lucky as I was encouraged to ask questions and get involved on site, which often included investigating and discussing certain faults and their causes. The greatest skill I picked up was the basic use of CAD software, which I was taught by another intern in my team during one of the periods of little work."
Intern, London
"It was more based on being given tasks to do rather than full directive training. This enabled me to learn a lot through 'learning by doing'."

"The lunchtime learning sessions gave you an understanding of other areas as well as the team you were placed in. I was shown how to use Promap and skills in valuation, which I can now use in my final year at uni."
Intern, London
"I was instructed on how best to write reports and market commentary and how to write professionally. I was also trained in how to undertake a site visit and how to communicate professionally with clients."
Intern, London
"I was given responsibilities from day one and we had a learning lunch each week, which was great. The learning lunch was where current graduates in the company would give a presentation (along with tips and advice) on the area of business they were currently sat in."

"I did not have any specific training, but learnt on-the-job and my team were always there to help."
Intern, London
"Graduates within the team were helpful in providing training for a variety of different functions I was asked to perform."
Intern, London
"Whenever you are unsure about something, you can always ask a colleague or your graduate buddy."
Intern, London
"A lot of the training has been reading, so I have had to read and make my own notes on things I wanted to learn. This internship has heightened my communication skills, my confidence and my law knowledge has been tested lots."
Intern, London
"I have learned mostly on-the-job, which I think is the most effective way when you are spending limited time at a company. I have honed and extended various skills including: comps, appraisals and viability assessments, etc."
Intern, London
"I had a variety of real-estate specific training, including that on landlord and tenant legislation, lease analysis, the hierarchy of evidence and its application to negotiation. I was also trained on negotiation skills and had a RICS panel presentation, and was taught about measuring retail space and zoning according to Code of Measuring Practice."
Placement Student, London
"I attended CPD sessions with full-time employees and received training on a number of different software applications."
Intern, London

2014

"I have learnt more areas of valuation that I did not know before. It was good to study valuation in a working, office environment as opposed to just studying it at university."
Intern, London
"I was taught how to use Argus which was extremely useful and will hopefully benefit me as I move forward."
Intern, London
"The training gave me a great insight into how a recovery and restructuring works. I assisted with the acquisition of valuations, and aided with the inputting of data through Excel and circle."
Intern, London
"We had weekly lunchtime learning sessions where we were given an insight in to all the different sectors you could end up working in."
