"I have not personally been involved in conventional pro bono work. However, the firm's commitment to general corporate social responsibility is very impressive. For instance, all first-year trainees have been encouraged to undertake a joint entrepreneurial challenge where we have been tasked with raising £10,000 for the Prince's Trust. The firm (at all levels) has been very supportive of this particular initiative."

"There's not much pro bono but the firm does a lot of corporate social responsibility work."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"We are involved in the Million Makers competition with the Prince's Trust, which involves all first-year trainees across all the offices. We are given two volunteering days per year and there are always projects or fundraising events to get involved in."
First year trainee, Newcastle
"I have not heard of any pro bono schemes being undertaken during my two years with the firm."
Second year trainee, Newcastle
"I have worked on mentoring schemes and building links with local schools. I have also taken part in fundraising initiatives. The firm is very committed to this and people enjoy taking part too."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"Pro bono is lacking. Most of the corporate social responsibility work we do involves mentoring rather than providing legal advice. The mentoring schemes we put on are very well attended and have been received/reviewed successfully. We also do a lot of fundraising for our local and national charities (this year these are St Pete's Hospice and the Prince's Trust)."

"I've been helping at local schools, mentoring, helping homeless people into work, fundraising for local and national charities and taking part in other activities."

"The corporate social responsibility committee tries to engage the wider firm in this but I think there could be greater participation."

"We give time to a number of local schemes and projects."

"This is not something I have been able to get involved with in the Leeds office, but I understand that the Newcastle offices offer opportunities to become involved with pro bono work."
First year trainee, Leeds
"The firm is very active in CSR, with regular charity events and collections for charities. The firm is also involved in initiatives such as the PRIME scheme, which aims to widen access to the law profession, and the Newcastle United Football Club Foundation course which helps people develop the skills needed to find or get back into work."
First year trainee, Newcastle
"There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in pro bono work and volunteer. I have mostly been involved in school student programmes designed to give an insight into law firm/business life, and instil the aspiration to go to university."
Second year trainee, Newcastle
"Pro bono is an area that the firm is looking to expand with more opportunities for staff to use their 15 hours of volunteering."
First year trainee, Newcastle
