"I've been involved in all sorts since very early on. Supervisors are generally keen to expose you to a variety of work, meetings and events."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"It varies from seat to seat. I have found the work in predominantly litigious seats to be more menial than in non-contentious seats where the responsibility given can often be bigger and involve more high-quality work."
Second year trainee, London
"Due to the wide expertise at the firm, the work I have received during my training contract has been brilliant and at the right level. It builds up as you develop in your seat, which is great as it means you don't feel like you're thrown in at the deep end at the beginning. I have had the opportunity to be involved in a variety of interesting work, from drafting witness statements, position statements and court application documents to providing advice to clients on a range of health advisory matters. I have also been along to many court of protection hearings and inquests with various team members, which has been great experience."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"There is good exposure to clients and partners and a high level and range of work, allowing for experience to be gained in dealing with large, complex and high-value cases while also allowing for some more autonomy on other files."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"I am involved in working for real clients on real cases and supervised to the right levels."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"We're given responsibility from day one and this includes client interaction. The quality of the work here is second to none in the East Midlands. My day-to-day role is varied as I might be drafting some documents one day and in a day-long client meeting the next."

"I am satisfied with the quality of work I'm assigned and the flow of work to juniors is generally very good. There are high expectations on you and the support is in place to allow you to reach these expectations."
Second year trainee, London
"I am assigned a really good quality of work and have had exposure to a lot of quite complex transactions, even in my first seat. I'm also actively discouraged from undertaking 'typical trainee tasks' such as copying and scanning, which I think is a real plus."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"I get a good mix of work and am allowed to run with matters within a supportive environment."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"I assist partners on complex matters, draft documents and deal with smaller matters while under supervision. I work with a number of different people in the team and across offices."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"I was given responsibility from day one. One of the first pieces of work that I was asked to do was to speak to the client and provide our advice to them directly. In my current seat I am given a wide variety of tasks to do and this ensures that every day is new and exciting."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"Depending on the size of the matter, the work I am assigned varies significantly. For very small matters I have given the client advice directly (after supervision) and for larger matters I will assist other fee earners with their work by doing tasks such as research, reporting on contracts and proof-reading."
Second year trainee, London
"I have experienced a really broad range of very high-quality work. Day to day I support senior fee earners with work on their cases including drafting, reviewing documents and liaising with clients/third parties. I also have responsibility for handling my own matters with supervision."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"I've been exposed to good-quality work with commercial clients daily."
