Trainee Retention

7.0 / 10

(based on 8 ratings in 2018)

2018

"Retention rates have been fine historically. However, they will have gone from around 20 trainees in 2016 to 40 in 2018. There is now a feeling that new qualifier positions may be quite a bit more competitive than in previous years."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"The retention rates in previous years have been absolutely fantastic and there is a real effort being made by the recruitment team to ensure there are enough seats for all of us. However, there have never been this many trainees in an intake before and it's difficult not to be nervous."

"It's well known that the firm has historically high retention rates. Rumour has it that the model might change as the firm grows and recruits higher numbers of trainees each year."
Second year trainee, London
"I believe the retention rates in the firm to be very good. The firm sees its trainees as an investment and the future of the firm, which is positive for retention."

"Retention rates have historically been very high but the firm's culture and approach to trainees appears to be changing. Given the current economic climate, I'll be interested to see how well the firm is able to maintain the high level of retention."
Second year trainee, London
"I think the retention rates are very good and the firm tries hard to keep as many trainees as possible."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"Retention rates are typically around 90% and there are usually jobs in a number of departments around the firm so the choice is good."
First year trainee, Nottingham
"Past retention rates have been healthy but there is some concern about whether there will be space in the popular roles on qualification."
