Cambridgeshire County Council

The County Council is the ‘upper tier’ local authority for Cambridgeshire, which includes the cities of Cambridge and Ely, surrounding villages and market towns from Huntingdonshire to Fenland. We are the fastest growing county in England and the Council provides a wide range of services including social care, highways and education. With gross annual expenditure of half a billion pounds, the organisation is politically led by 61 elected Members. Like much of the public sector, we face significant financial challenges in the years ahead, as our population and costs grow and funding provided from central government shrinks. This makes it a particularly influential time to be working the financial function, contributing to meeting that budgetary challenge and delivering best value for taxpayers.

The financial management trainee scheme is very well established, operating for at least two decades. There is structured progression through exam stages of the CIPFA accountancy qualification. We recruit graduates from all degree backgrounds.
