What does your role involve?
I assist the Head of Valuations with residential and commercial valuations, including inspections, comparable evidence research, and drafting reports. I have also been helping with Commercial agency: with viewings, preparing details, taking enquiries, drafting heads of terms and so on.
What training have you received?
The training I get is both on the job and general practice of surveying. The Graduate Away Days that they organise are brilliant for meeting up with the other graduates, networking, keeping up to date with legislation, and sharing stories and experiences.
Why did you chose Carter Jonas?
I already knew about the business and thought they were a great firm to join.
What is it like working at Carter Jonas?
The people who work at Carter Jonas are extremely friendly, motivated and approachable. They have a great track record for the APC candidates.
Everyone is willing to pass down their expertise and knowledge, and always have the time of day to explain everything. They are very patient in helping me learn about valuations. With my first module for my Masters, which was corporate finance, I found it very difficult. They gave me endless support and I managed to finish the assignment, and pass it!
Have you faced any challenges?
I was involved in a difficult expert witness report alongside my supervisor, and found that effective client management was particularly important especially when expectations are high, and professionalism should be consistent.
What has been the highlight of your job so far?
My highlight has been assisting with a residential development site valuation and helping at the grand launch event. It’s great to feel part of a team.
Why would you recommend Carter Jonas’ graduate scheme?
Carter Jonas provides the graduates with lots of support and is a business that is going places. I feel they take the approach that we are the future of Carter Jonas, so it’s in as much their interest as it is ours, so we gain so much from all their incredible knowledge.
